Her bonus truth is:

When I write, I can’t write scenes out of order. It drives me insane. I have to be driven to that point in order to express the characters’ emotions to my full capacity. It’s not organic to me.

Daring the Wild Sparks (Book 2)

carter2

Book 1:

What would you do if the love of your life doesn’t want the same life you do?
Hadley Beckett has failed in not only her career, but as a daughter, friend, and girlfriend.

Hadley’s longtime boyfriend, Finn Wilder, who is Richmond, Virginia’s local daredevil and favorite sportscaster, isn’t afraid of anything…except for LASIK surgery, dancing, marriage, and kids—the last two being what Hadley desperately wants with him. Finn leads a very public life; however, he leaves Hadley in the dark about most of it. Despite his public persona, Finn is viciously protective of his private life. Excluding their families, his best friend and Hadley’s friends, nobody knows he has been dating her for three years. Finn loves Hadley and he knows she wants to get married. Nevertheless, he has his own reasons for not wanting to marry her.

Fearing at 33 that she will soon be too old to have kids, Hadley wants Finn to change his mind and marry her, yet her insecurities about his seemingly charismatic personality and his constant rebuffs have her questioning her aspirations. With conflicting advice from her friends, Hadley concludes she should take things into her own hands.
Would he change his mind then?

Finn pressures Hadley into moving in with him, but being traditional, she wants to be married first and she wants to stick to her beliefs, just as he clings to his own. Finn has tolerated Hadley’s stubbornness long enough and he’s reaching his breaking point.

Finn Wilder has his own story to tell.
so hard

Book 2:

In the follow up to “Chasing the Wild Sparks,” Hadley Beckett’s quest for wedded bliss perseveres…

What would you do if the love of your life were closer to making your dreams come true?

Riding high in her relationship with her sportscaster/local daredevil boyfriend, Finn Wilder, Hadley Beckett makes plans concerning her future with Finn. Big plans.

Spending time with Finn at his parents’ house for Easter, Hadley can’t wait to share some of her ideas with him, hoping he will go along. She knows she has an uphill climb ahead of her, but she’s optimistic that after what they recently went through, Finn will be receptive to what she has to say.

Infamously anti-marriage, Finn promised Hadley he’d consider taking her to the altar if she gives him more time. Diving headfirst and with encouragement from her best friend Morgan, Hadley devises a backup plan if Finn can’t make a decision soon. However, her other close friend, Rod, disagrees with Morgan’s advice, partly to just oppose her in spite, but also having actual valid points of his own. Feeling conflicted, Hadley takes both of their suggestions and blends them together, formulating her own way to handle Finn.

On the other hand, unbeknownst to Hadley, Finn has plans of his own as well.

Hadley is determined to succeed, yet is she unwittingly destined to fail?

Meet the Author

KRISTINA CIRCELINight owl, Dorito lover, and quiet eccentric – Kristina Circelli is the author of several fiction novels, including The Helping Hands series, The Whisper Legacy, The Never, and The Sour Orange Derby.

Her latest series, The Whisper Legacy, features Beyond the Western Sun. This book is what all fantasy adventures must strive to be: a complex, intricate examination of human emotion set within the context of worlds known only in our imagination. Melding fantasy and legend in an epic quest, this series signals the arrival of Kristina Circelli as a master storyteller and an important voice in Native American literature.

A descendent of the Cherokee nation and niece of a Cherokee elder, Circelli holds both a Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in English from the University of North Florida, where she teaches creative writing. She also heads Red Road Editing, a full-service editing company for independent authors and commercial clients.

She currently resides in Jacksonville, Florida with her husband, Seth, and cats, Lord Finnegin the Fierce and Mr. Malachi the Mighty.

Fun Facts

1) Many of the animals in “Fragile Creatures” are inspired by real ones that I have personally worked with.

2) “Fragile Creatures” features my favorite animal – the giraffe (contrary to popular belief that it’s the cat.

3) The Neverending Story is my favorite movie. It taught me to dream and to believe in the impossible.

4) The fastest and most surefire way to get and keep my attention is to open the discussion with mention of an adventure.

5) I have a slight addiction to Doritos. I could easily go through a bag in one sitting. But, I do still hold a grudge against whoever made the decision to end Blazin Buffalo & Ranch Doritos.

6) Sometimes I think I’m borderline agoraphobic. I hate leaving the house, but all my book events are forcing me out of my comfort zone, in a good way. I admit though, no matter where I am, I can’t wait to get home and snuggle up on the couch with my comfy couch blankets.

7) I have worked as a shorebird rehabilitator, vet tech assistant, zoo education exhibit guide/goat keeper, and golf course beer cart girl.

8) As much as I love to write, I don’t write every day. I think if you try to force creativity, you’re missing the point.

9) I spent two weeks in Ecuador helping a small village in the Amazon, helping to build a new bathroom for schoolkids and a greenhouse for the entire village. I’d give anything to go back. I was also tear gassed in Quito during the same trip. Purely a misunderstanding!

10) I am a terrible self-promoter, which is why I hired a PR agent. I am uncomfortable at trying to talk highly of myself.

11) Of all my novels, “Fragile Creatures” is the book I am most proud of.

12) In the Keys, I got to hang out with a sea lion named Mimi. She gave me a kiss and it was the best thing ever.

13) One day, I want to live in a cabin in the woods, or in a beach house on a remote island.

14) My first novel, The Helping Hands, was published when I was 17.

15) My Cherokee name, given to me by an Elder, is Usti Kamama, or Little Butterfly. The butterfly is the only creature able to transcend realms. It is said that if you capture a butterfly, whisper to it your greatest desires and let it go. By releasing the butterfly, you are restoring the balance of nature, and so the butterfly will bring your wishes to the spirit realm and to the Creator, who alone can understand the thoughts of butterflies.

16) Along those lines, the goose is my spirit guide. The goose is the keeper of childhood imagination, the origins of writing and storytelling.

17) “Fragile Creatures” is my first YA novel, one that I purposely wrote without the usual love triangle, even if people do keep trying to read one in …

18) My childhood dream was to marry Raphael, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. Or, be a vampire. OR, a Jack Sparrow-type pirate.

19) I once painted a tabletop mural for a local restaurant. They have since remodeled and removed all the painted tables, sadly, but for a while my work was on display.

20) My very first short story, “The Mystery House,” was inspired by my great-great Uncle Louis’ house in Columbus, Maine.

Review of All Our Love

When I first looked over the line up for this book I was amazed at all the great Authors that were included in this anthology. Usually I will recognize a couple in a list of anthologies, but with this book I knew every Author who contributed so I couldn’t wait to start reading.Once I started reading I found myself not wanting to put it down. This is always a good sign! I was worried before I started reading that I would have a hard time reviewing since it would be a list of different stories all in one book. Well that notion was thrown right out the window. I enjoyed every story in the book and would give them all 5 stars. This helped me to write this. The title of the book really defines the book. In each story there is lots of emotions but it always relies on one thing, and that is Love. While there are 11 different stories by 11 amazing Authors, all of the stories work together in a way to make one big book about Love and the title is perfect. In each individual you will find romance, love, and stories you can even relate to. And while I enjoyed all the stories. The one story that stuck out most for me was Have my Heart by Rene Folsom. Her story centered around a biracial couple with a child. This is something you don’t find very often. Even in todays world writers seem to stray away from this subject.Overall this was a great collection of Love Stories. Some of them left me wanting more. I would suggest this book to anyone who believes in love. Love really does conquer all.

I went to bed one night after reading a book that wasn’t very good and thought to myself, ” I can do better than that.” So the next morning I got up and started pounding away at the keyboard. My first book hides in the bowels of my laptop collecting dust. My first published novel, Running from Destiny, released in October of 2013. The sequel, Accepting Destiny just released in January 2014. I have a new WIP that I am working on, title and release date to be announced at a later date. Accident
By Joann Simon Tailele

Imagine spending the next ten years in a prison cell the size of your walk-in closet.

When alcoholic soccer-mom Susan Jennings causes a fatal car accident, she is forced to face her addiction, fight to stay alive behind the dangerous prison walls and win her teenage daughter’s forgiveness before she also falls trap to the devil hiding behind a clergyman’s collar.

I enjoyed Joanne Tailele style of writing in this book. I felt she covered several aspects. The characters were well described and we get an indepth look into their lives up close and personal. For me this makes or breaks a book.

I want to know about characters, I want to be able to visualize them in my head. This book does that without a problem.
The intro into this book was amazingly written out.

The entire story with it’s twist and turns links together smoothly to achieve a great storyline. While the characters in the book struggle with prison and addiction you felt like you were right there along them for this crazy emotional ride.

This book was written from double POV. From the mothers side and the daughters. This book was a good easy read.

Chapter One

She was fifteen years old and alone. The first gulp of the dark liquid scorched her throat and burned all the way down. Her eyes stung and she fought the urge to vomit. The second gulp went down a little easier. By the third, the warmth inside began to surface toward her skin. As it settled like a warm blanket around her, she knew she had found a way to keep her secret, for at least one day at a time. By the time she finished the bottle, she was no longer ripping long strands of red hair from her head.

***

Susan Jennings awoke from the dream, shaking off the old memory that had haunted her for twenty years. As her eyes adjusted to the harsh fluorescent lights, she noticed the sterile green walls and the metal rails on either side of the bed. On the wall directly across from the bed a large round clock with a white face and black hands hung next to a chalk board with the date, April 3, 1982, written in bold, neat handwriting. When her vision cleared she saw her husband, Thomas, slumped in a straight-backed chair, his dark head cradled in his hands. “What happened?” she whispered.

Thomas jerked up when he heard her voice. Shadowy circles surrounded his deep brown eyes. His rumpled shirt suggested he had slept in the chair. Tears brimmed in his eyes. His words were jagged and raw as he recapped the accident in halting phrases. He was still in a state of shock as he toggled back and forth between his wife’s and his daughter’s rooms on different floors.

“You missed the sign, the stop sign, Susan. The other car couldn’t stop. Your car . . . the whole passenger side crushed . . . the other car rolled.”

He sucked in his breath and wrung his hands, a nervous habit. Absentmindedly, he reached for the tube which pushed oxygen through the cannula in her nose. He squeezed the tube, blocking off the air. A lock of his jet-black hair fell over his forehead.

His words brought back flickers of recollection to her, the children laughing in the back seat, a white sedan approaching from the right . . . crawling from the ditch . . . her late model station wagon crushed almost beyond recognition . . . the sedan rocking on its hood.

Susan gazed down at her body. A few bandages covered superficial cuts on her arms. She reached for the mirror on the bed tray and noticed long strands of red hair twisted in the palm of her hand. She shook her hand and the hair fell to the tile floor. Her left eye was turning a muddy purplish-brown. Dried blood caked at her hairline. She fingered the few stitches above her right eyebrow.

Thomas continued, “Deanna and your mother were pinned inside. The EMT’s talked about taking Deanna’s leg off to get her out, but they didn’t . . . at least . . . not yet. The doctors say she has internal bleeding and several broken ribs. Her leg is a mess. They still don’t know if they can save it. Shit Susan, she’s in a coma.” Without thinking, he squeezed and released the tube, causing the air to come in spurts through her nose.

“No,” Susan whispered. “That can’t be right. We were on our way to the mall. Maybe the rain . . . .” Her words trailed off as Thomas shook his head. “And . . . what else?” A sense of dread caused a shiver down her spine.

“The car folded like an accordion. They found your mom wedged between the windshield and the dashboard in the front seat. Her arm is pretty fucked up. Your dad said she might have had a stroke too.”

It’s all so hazy. Why can’t I remember? Panic began to set in. “What about Daniel?”

Thomas let go of the tube and cradled his face in the palms of his hands. His shoulder-length jet-black hair hung loose and obscured his face. Racking sobs shook his body and a near-primal growl escaped his lips. Finally, angry eyes looked up at her. “He’s dead, Susan!” He spat the words at her. “He got thrown from the car. They found him in a field. He hit his head on a rock and he broke his neck.”

His words bit into her, sucking the breath from her lungs. She couldn’t speak. She couldn’t scream. Her heart pumped wildly. It felt as if a boulder had landed on her chest. The heart monitor went off, sending screeching alerts to the nurses’ station.

A nurse rushed into the room. “You’ll have to leave, Mr. Jennings. She’s too upset. Her blood pressure and heart rate are going through the roof.”

“I’m sorry, I should have waited.” His anger was quickly spent. Thomas moved out of the way, allowing the nurse to administer a sedative. Shaking his head, he turned and walked out the door, heading to the intensive care unit to sit with his daughter, Deanna.

The room started to get dark and blurry. Susan was glad. She wanted to slip into that dark void of nothingness. Just before the blissful darkness descended, she thought, How can this be? They were fine, having fun, laughing and playing. Daniel is dead? Mom and Deanna hurt? Did I really do this?

excerpt

Once we were seated around the dining room table eating cheesecake, I felt Shane grab my thigh and clear his throat. “So, we have something to tell y’all.” I was pretty positive everyone stopped everything they were doing at once and lifted their eyebrows, waiting for him to continue. He looked over at me and beamed. “Vanessa and I are going to be parents.”

I just stared into his eyes as I let the sighs and the clanking of silverware hit my ears. I didn’t want to look at anyone else in that moment. I didn’t want to hear the lectures, either.Meet the Author
